Along with the development of the economy, the arts and cultural industry will rank among the industries that will sustain national economic growth in the 21st century.In 2003, the Shanghai Conservatory of Music establishedthe Arts Administration Department to meet a surging demand formanagement personnel in this industry.The Department is dedicated to the nurturing of talents who are articulate in arts and culture , innovative, and in possession ofgood management skills.

A Mutually Beneficial Partnership with FudanUniversity
复旦大学是国内最优秀的大学之一，其管理学科和经济学科更是享誉海内外。2004年，上音艺术管理系与复旦大学达成合作意向。由复旦大学派出专业教师担任本系部分课程的教学工作。
The School of Management of FudanUniversity is one of the top management schools in China. In 2004, the Arts Administration Department of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music and the School of Management of the FudanUniversityreached an agreement of collaboration . Professors from FudanUniversity are arranged to teach some courses in this undergraduate programme.
2005年，本系招收的39名新生已全部进入复旦大学，进行为期一年的管理和经济类学科的基础知识的学习，此后将再回到音乐学院进行艺术理论和专业技能的训练。形成真正意义上的优势互补，全面培养。
In 2005, 39 freshmen admitted to the Arts Administration Department of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music enrolled at the Fu Dan University to take one year of management studies . Then they returned to the Shanghai Conservatory of Music to continue studying various art theories and arts management skills. Students are thus able to take the best from both institutions.

A Conservatory with a Long and Distinguished History
上海音乐学院是中国第一所专业高等音乐学府，由著名教育家蔡元培先生和著名音乐教育家萧友梅博士创建于1927年。近80年来，上音培养的人才遍布全国及世界各地，被誉为“音乐家的摇篮”。
学院汇聚了众多在国内外享有盛誉的教授、专家和学者，同时还有国内外著名音乐家和学者来校讲学和任教。由此保证了教学的高水准。
As the first institution of higher education in music in China, the Shanghai Conservatory of Music was founded in l927 by the celebrated educator Cai Yuan Pei and Dr. Xiao You Mei. Over the last 70 years, the Conservatory has trained a large number of accomplished musicians who now reside all over the world.It has been known as “a cradle of musical talents”.Faculty members are renowned professors, experts and academics.In addition, musicians and scholars of high repute from China and overseas are invited regularly to give lectures and lessons.

知识，实践能力和个人素养是我们的三个培养目标，知识方面课程提供管理的基础科目，艺术各门类的基础课程与及艺术管理的专业课程。更通过跨学科、交义式的学习，栽培发展文化创意产业所需要的跨领域人才。
实践能力的培养也是课程重要一环，通过全面的，循序渐进的实践经历，让同学在资深导师及专家的监督下掌握操作能力，再到社会上文艺单位实习。
优秀的个人素养及良好的自我管理能力是未来社会管理人员必须具备的，在致力提高学生素质及自我管理能⺁力的同时，也培养其真诚的社会文化责任感。
Knowledge, practical skills and good personal attributes are what we striveto cultivate in our students. Students acquire knowledge and a broad vision through foundation courses in management, various art forms and art administration theories and practice. Through cross-disciplinary studies, we develop interdisciplinary professionals who are in high demand in cultural and creative industries nowadays.
The development of practical skills is also an important part of our programme . Students learn and enhance their practical skills under teachers’ guidance through a comprehensive, step-by-step training programme.
Fine personal attributes and good self-management ability are essential to managers of the future. We encourage our students to develop and acquire such qualities.Emphasis is also given to the cultivation of their sense of social and cultural responsibilities.

Cultural Environment of a CosmopolitanCity
依托上海这座国际化大都市的文化环境，建立起广泛的国际交流渠道，邀请来沪演出交流的艺术团体中的艺术管理专家为学生讲课。上海文化产业的高速发展和2010年世博会的筹办也为学生提供了更多的机遇，通过与业界紧密交流, 使学生能更充份地把握与国际接轨的艺管理与操作模式。
Numerous international exchange networks arise from the cosmopolitan cultural environment of
Shanghai. Each yeara lot of overseasarts organizations and arts managers visit Shanghai for
performances and exchanges.The Arts AdministrationDepartment often takes advantage of such
opportunities to invite experienced art management professionals to give lectures to its students.
The rapid development of the cultural industry in Shanghai and Expo 2010 also provide a good
learning platform. Students have ample chances to communicate and learn from practitioners
through many experience-sharing sessions. They are thus able to have a firm grasp of management
ideas and modes of arts administration practice in use in the international community.

Abundant Practical Training Opportunities
依托上音雄厚的艺术资源、上海市浓郁的文化氛围以及本系广泛的社会联系和专家网络，本系的学生有着内容丰富形式多样的艺术管理实践机会。
Drawing on the artistic resources of the Shanghai Conservatory, the rich cultural offerings of Shanghai as well as the extensive network enjoyed by the Arts Administration Department, students are given numerous opportunities to pursue practical training of different nature and levels.
建系以来，本系学生先后参与了上海之春国际音乐节、上海国际艺术节、世界马林巴比赛及打击乐周、徐家汇公园周末广场音乐会、音乐剧《我为歌狂》和《旋转木马》纪念冼星海诞辰100周年音乐会以及高雅音乐进校园等项目，分别负责策划、宣传、跟场、票务等工作。并承接了文艺单位委托的观众调查工作。部分学生先后在中央电视台、上海东方电视台、上海东方艺术中心、东方广播电台经典音乐频率以及市委宣传部等媒体和部门实习。赴澳门考察文化环境并参与澳门艺术节部分项目的策划工作。
Students have been involved in planning, marketing, ticketing, audience survey and stage management activities at both performance venues and production projects. The latter includes the Shanghai Spring International Music Festival, the Shanghai International Arts Festival, the World Marimba Competition , the Weekend Concert Series in XuJiaHuiPark,musicals Crazy for Music and Carousel, the “Xian Xing Hai Commemoration Activities” andthe “Classical music enters campus”. Selected students have joined a study tour to Macau and assisted in project planning of the Macau Arts Festival, Some have completedinternships .at the ShanghaiOrientalArtsCenter, CCTV, OTV, Classical 947 FM94.7, and the Publicity Department of the CCCPC of Shanghai.

The arts foundation courses include:
Music fundamentals , Music Drama, Pop Music, Music Theory,Visual Art Fundamentals , Film fundamentals, Literature Fundamentals. etc
Professional foundation courses:
Management Communication, Project Management, Marketing, Advertising and Innovation, Principles of Communication,Principles of Economics, Principles of Accounting, Principles of Law etc.

本系面向全国招生，文理兼收，每年根据国家计划为不同省份分配名额。按当地高考的“一本”分数线录取。热忱欢迎热爱文化艺术，有志参与文化艺术事业和产业的建设和发展的同学加入我们。学制：4年。学费：一万/年
Admission
Nation-wide admission according to quotas set for different provinces.To be considered for admission by the Arts Administration Department, a candidate must satisfy the admission requirement of First Category Universities. He or she should have a passion in the arts and culture , able to demonstrate a substantial interest in, and propensity to, arts administration and a career in the culture industry.Length of Study: 4 Years Tuition FeeRMB 10,000 per annum
